Acceptable use
What MolnPay may and may not be used for. This is the document the staff review before live access is granted actually checks against, so it is written to be applied rather than to be impressive.
Not yet published. Live access is already gated on a human review of every merchant's business profile, and that review is what this document will formalise — but the policy itself is not written and no account has been approved under it.
What it will cover.
- Prohibited business categories
- Named specifically rather than gestured at, because a list a reviewer cannot apply consistently is not a policy. Where a category is restricted rather than banned, the conditions will be stated.
- Sanctions and jurisdictions
- Which jurisdictions we will not serve, and what happens to a balance if an account is later found to be in one.
- Using the API against other people
- The uses of a payments API that harm somebody other than the merchant — deceptive checkouts, invoices for goods that do not exist, resale of access to third parties we have not reviewed.
- Funds of obviously illicit origin
- What we do when a deposit's provenance is plainly a problem, and — equally importantly — the limits of what we claim to be able to detect. MolnPay does not currently run transaction screening, and will say so rather than imply otherwise.
- What happens when a rule is broken
- The three account states, that a pause or suspension always carries a stated reason, how to contest one, and how a merchant gets their balance out of an account that is being closed.
